Liquid-applied flat roofing systems centre on polymer-based coatings typically made fro polyurethane and silicone. They're proven systems that are sustainable, fast-curing and designed help avoid more costly roofing work.
Understanding Liquid-Applied flat roofing systems
Polyurethane- and silicone-based polymers are hugely versatile, demonstrating a high elasticity and tensile strength.
They are commonly applied to flat roofs typically made from metal, glass fibre, single-ply and a variety of other detailing applications where replacement, refurbishment or repairs are needed.
What are Liquid-Applied flat roofing systems made of?
The high elongation (up to 300%) owing to the high elasticity of the liquid applied polymers combined with their tensile strength offer highly durable systems. They can be further adapted and improved to by incorporating solids, such as harder particulates to increase tensile strength - making them suitable for applications requiring greater durability, as well as textiles, such as polyester mat for added mechanical strength.
Roofing applications of liquid-applied system
Liquid-applied polymers bond to a variety of substrates and surfaces, as facilitated by a resin primer, from steel (to protect from corrosion and rust) through to aluminium, wood, glass fibre (refurbishment), single ply (overlaying to allow tear-resistance - popular when single ply tears).
They can also be used as roofing systems in their own right, and applied tonew builds, balcony flat roofs, terraces, orangeries with skylight detailing.
More specific roofing applications centre on apertures, gutters and gutters, pipes, cable trays, roof access ports and openings, roofing windows and others.
